good idea!
his is a 99 powerstroke so it is a good one. it isn't one of the newer 6.0 liters. he hasn't had any trouble out of it but it is still fun to mess with him.

The PSD rod looks pretty beefy for an engine with smaller pistons and a shorter stroke. The D-Max rod looks adequate, too. I don't think Cummins ought to bother with that pic any more. It was impressive 10 years ago when GM still ran the 6.5, but now I don't think it proves anything. The other two engines have enough other weak points without considering the rods - which appear to be OK.

the dmax piston looks like a better design that the 6.0( more support on the sides were the piston pin goes through) on the other hand the 6.0 rod looks beefier than the dmax. but the Cummins is alot beefier cause its a 6 cylinder and displaces more cubes per cyl with a longer stroke. glad i ordered a CTD
For me, the most impressive part of that picture is the thickness of all three rods. It's a little hard to see, but try to compare how much each rod sticks up off the table they're sitting on.
I emailed this picture to my uncle, who didn't listen to my advice and purchaced a Duraturd.

Wannadiesel is right. Comparing the size of the PSD to the DMax is valid, because they are both 8 cylinder engines. A 6 cylinder engine (of roughly the same displacement) will inherently require a larger connecting rod due to the increase bore size required to get the same displacement (5.9L, 6L, or 6.6L)
