New Owner: Service Manual & Oil Question
New Owner: Service Manual & Oil Question
Hello. I need a little help with a couple of newbie questions.
1) I may not have received all the owners manual(s). I have the 2003 Ram Truck owners manual which makes little or no mention of the Cummins engnine. Also have the diesel truck maintenance log book. But, nothing for simple owner maintenance of the Cummins engine. Should I have gotten more manuals from the dealer?
2) Given the 1st question, what oil rating & weights does Cummins call for for the 03' SO engine? I assume different weights for various temps/seasons too...
Thanks!

Use good filters like Fleetguard. Change fuel filter everyother oil filter. Install a fuel pressure gage ASAP and understand what the readings mean.
Seach other posts for info. All your questions will be answered on maintance. It will take you a few hours, but trust me it will help and inform you.

OF course this is all just my opinion
Thanks for the quick replies.
As a follow-up, do you guys think I'm missing part of the manual (original question #1) and is 15-40 still recommended for winter, approx 0 - 45 degrees farenheit?
