new motor for 07!

just got off the phone with dave smith motors and was told that dodge is coming out with the new 6.7 v8 diesel for 07 and the price will be going up! they are not installing it for more power but for lower emissions and better fuel economy. if you want a 5.9 you better grab one now. call them and see for yourself.

the only way I could see more cubes getting better mileage w2ould be because the truck goes down the road with less effort. I guess if your not having to mash the throttle as hard it would use less fuel and put out less emissions. wouldnt stop me from buying one and to be honest I only bought a dodge because it had the cummins. if ford had it I would drive a ford . same with chevy.

I went to the dealer on tuesday and they were suprised that I already knew the trucks would have the 6.7 and cost $5-10k more than they do now because of all the emission equipment. I'll look for the post, but this has been discussed MANY times before.

i was walking in my yard the other day and stepped in a big pile of car dealer.
DISCLAIMER: this is not how i feel about all car dealers, but about 95% of them i have dealt with.

for the 6.7 motors they put a dag on egr setup on it and the engine makes less power than the 600 series. now i'm sure in a couple of months that will all change with the aftermarket people out there.

This is old news and has been offcially announced by dodge in several magazines lately (Diesel Power, etc.) It is not a V8 however. It is a 6.7 liter straight six rated at 305 HP and it will only be available in the commercial version of the truck. Don't expect it to be in the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks until 08 model year.

If a dealer told you it was a V8 this late in the game then you need to shop elsewhere. Anyone browsing the magazine racks would already know its not a v8.

I researched the matter a bit before deciding to buy an ’06 5.9L. From what I’ve read, every light duty diesel truck sold after Jan 1 ’07 is required to meet the Tier II emissions regs. Unless Dodge wants to forego the ¾ & 1 ton pickup market, they will have to sell the 6.7L ISB in pickups (maybe as a 2008 model year) .

On the down side, the new engine will have a Diesel Particulate Filter on the exhaust and an EGR system….expected to reduce MPG by up to 20%. On the positive side, the Aisin 6 speed auto transmission will be available on the 6.7L, and I believe Cummins is less prone to teething problems than Ford or GM in newly introduced light duty diesels.

And yet another reason I need to keep mine running well for a LONG time.

Maybe the new injectors/air intake/CP3/exhaust/chip can wait for a while. Knock on wood (knocking) my truck should run just fine de-tuned (stock) for quite a while.
