New to DTR and lift pump problem

First time posting and wanted to say Hello.
My problem is my lift pump went south and now at the Dodge Dealer and they say No Warranty.. Truck is 2004 with 67k......What determines warranty coverage or not. I have searched multiple posts about P-0628 codes and some are covered and some not. I am willing to argue with them but Rep was there today and he says not covered. Any help would be great.....Thanks

Find you another dealer. The lift pump is covered under the 5yr/100k Cummins warranty.

I called another Dealer and they told me the same thing. Is there somewhere I can show them in writing that it is covered ?

Dealer says even though code says P-0628 they don't call it lift pump.
They say it's a Sending Unit / Level Module.....whats the difference?
This is not under warranty they say.

they're full of it. on your truck(unless the pump retrofit has been done) the lift pump is mounted to the back of the fuel filter, complelely different component to the level sending unit.
the stock lift pump pulls fuel(and not very well) from the tank, pushes through the filter to the cp3(injection pump)
the sending unit(in the tank) gives the level indication to your gauge.
they obviously do not know what years pumps were in tanks or engine mounted.lift pump is covered by at least the 7/70.

tell them to give you in writing why the denial of warranty. Then let us know.
You should join the MD chapter #33, there are about 3-4 members near you.
come on over here and introduce yourself.

Not to mention, if you really decided to say to heck with it, and UPGRADE your lift pump and NEVER have to worry about it again, you can always go with a unit like the one from Richard over at Glacier Diesel. His Walbro setup that replaces the stock lift pump is kick butt. The peace of mind allone is worth the upgrade. But, if you can get the dealer to fix it for free, I can understand that.

As said above, if someone is trying to pass off the sending unit as teh problem, then obviously that dealer has no idea what they are talking about.

Thanks for all the info....as it turns out from the phone call to DC...they said it is covered under warranty and no deductible. They called the dealer while I was on hold and set it all straight. I will upgrade before this one dies but for right now this will work.

they might have been trying to void your warranty because of the EZ you have. Did you take it off before taking it in?
Now find a new Dealer!
Then join your local chapter, and i happen to know which one it is.

Once they put the replacement in-tank, you will have to drop your tank again to change to a GDP or FASS or Airdog....or whatever. You'll have a lot easier time changing to an aftermarket system with the LP on the fuel filter housing.
Cheers
Mike

If you upgrade dont you want to upgrade the draw straw as well, which would require dropping the tank anyway?

I disconnected my Edge box but the dealer is really cool about that stuff around here.....They could care less.....They actually ask you me to unplug it in case they flash for anything. My service writer is pretty good and she is only reading what a computer says in front of her....not willing to look any further. As for upgrading....Once my house sells my divorce will be final and here comes mor truck mods.....need more POWER. I will post on the MD. chapter today.
