Correct me if I'm wrong, but the cab on the 1500's isn't exactly the same as on the 2500/3500's, is it? I can see sheet metal differences, if nothing else. And I would like to think that since the 1500's have a different front suspension (i.e., IFS) that they use a different steering box and associated components.
That being said (asked), somehow I'm a little more at ease with my '10's right turn "honking" (Dodge's term for the noise) - since it doesn't do it all the time at all speeds and turn radiuses, I'll just hang tight until they come up with an across the board fix.
And yea, I used to tell others not to buy a first year model change vehicle - but that was years ago when you would know a new vehicle no matter what would have to go back in for various warranty issues - I'd like to think US quality is above that now...

HELLO, new guy here and I just got my first Diesel, and with just 400 miles i'm getting the above stated noise coming from the steering.

Is it bad to drive it like this? I do plan to take it back to the dealer sometime next week, but cant get there until then.

thanks

My service people told me it's not going to wreck anything including the truck to drive it with the honking - but if it's really noisy all the time it could more than just the honk issue. They bled some air out of mine when it was new, and it helped some...

They would still have to cover everything under warranty correct just not the motor??
I don't know why people still waist their money on RADAR detectors. By the time it goes off, we already have your speed locked on RADAR. Sometimes you might get lucky, but mostly those low signal hits are usually written off as an automatic door.

The internet is usually a better tool than a RADAR detector with all the smart phones that are out there now. There's hundreds of sites that list where the most popular speed traps are.

my 2011 with 150 miles on it is making the honking noise too.. imagine that.. and I also had the low tire pressure light flashing.. and my air pressure was right on the mark.. they had to reset the system.

I must be one of the 'lucky' ones then as my detector has paid for itself tenfold. Especially in Oregon where the speed limit on open state highways is still only 55. Not until you get to the federal interstates is the posted limit 65.

I didnt get that thread either re read all the previous post trying to figure it out haha. Really the only time it works is in traffic. Then they shot someone else and your detector picked it up. Otherwise useless

Check the tierod alignment? Some don't have the right angle on them and cause addition stress on the steering box/tierod. My truck works good, no real issues at 20000miles mark now, but I have never been back to the dealer since I bought mine.

The steering doesnt sound like a first year issue. Just curious if you are now a full time engineer for Dodge/Chrysler or still going to school.

Not sure what has happened, but my truck has not made the stated steering noise since shortly after the above quote. I'm not sure what has happened, but its gone.

NOW on to tire pressure...first I will use the search tool
