Need tools and help, in E. TN.

On our way up to Tennessee pulling the 5ver, I lost my fan belt. Luckily, we were in a parking lot when it started separating. While changing out the belt, I noticed a couple of issues. First, there is a decent leak, from the power steering pump. Second, the old belt had 'walked' on the other pulleys, so I checked out all pulleys. The PS pump shaft, is allowing the pulley 1/4" travel. Here is my problem, and where I need the help. We are in Pigeon Forge, TN and will be until 12-26. I can get the pump, but I have almost no tools with me. If you are able and willing to help, it would be greatly appreciated. If you send me a private message, I will get email notification. Otherwise, I'll have to baby it back to central Florida, with the 5ver, and fix it then.

Advance Auto or Autozone will loan tools if you need them.

Basically you give them a credit card number and they charge you for them if you do not return them in good order. Great help when you are on the road

I know they did that with specialty tools, but I didn't think they did that with basic tools. I have an oil filter strap, 1-1/8 x 1/2 drive socket, 1/2 ratchet, and a pair of channel-locks. I keep an oil filter, fuel filter, water separator for the aux. fuel tank, and all the oils, in my tool box. I haven't had time to put the small tools, in the tailgate toolbox.

I'll give them a call in the AM, and see if they'll do the small tools too.

I'd have to look. We got in late last night, and took the trolley out today. I figured I'd try to get it done within a couple of days, if I can get the tools. The bad part is, I have more than enough tools at home, for the truck.

Better check your water pump for any play again. I've seen more water pump failures cause the belt to shread then P/S pumps. New P/S pump does not come with a pulley installed. You will need a remover and installer. You'll need a 13mm deep socket 3/8 drive rachet. Line wrench or open end 18mm.

CAUTION: Do not remove the fitting on the pump that the high pressure hose screws into. The fitting may come loose unless it is backed up using another wrench. If the fitting does come loose, it must be retightened before continuing. (57 - 67Nm, 40 - 50 lbft) If this fitting comes out of the pump body, the internal spring and valve parts will fall out of the pump and they cannot be reinstalled properly. If this occurs the pump needs to be replaced with a new pump.

Thanks Bigiron, the water pump has less than 20k miles on it, and felt good when I was checking everything out. The local shop in Knoxville, wants $393 to do it. I'm gonna check with Autozone about the small tools, and a couple more shops.
