Need some info on my new 2005 truck

I recently got a 2005, 6 speed, 2500. The last CTD I had was a 1st Gen, and it looks like things have changed a tad since that

THere is no owners manual so I have no idea really what I have, so Ill toss some questions out for clarification.

1. Which 6 speed trans do I have G56 or NV5600? ANd what fluid type is needed to change it?

2. How can I tell if its an HO engine?

3. ANy special service, or items I should check at 145k miles?

4. Finally, do these have any inherited steering issues? I have a lot of slop in the wheel, and looks like the pass side tierod end is moving.

5. Do valves need adjusted on these like a 12 valve?

Thanks!

Welcome to the 3rd gen club, lots of reading on here!!

Your ‘05 has the 325HP motor; it will say so on the side of the valve cover. That HO/LO BS was for earlier years.

You probably have the G56; reverse is down to the left, it takes ATF+4.

Valves are to be done ~100K.

Get yourself the updated ‘08+ steering setup, you may be in need of a new steering box too.

Check to make sure you do not have the intercooler with plastic ends. They went back to aluminum in late .05, since the plastic ones sometimes blow out.

You can also try www.dodge.com and click on the "For Owners" area. At that point go to the "Dodge Owners" / Recall area and fill in the questions and or VIN# of your vehicle. This will provide you with any updates and information regarding recalls and TSB's associated with the vehicle.
