Need some advice on Dealer issue

I've been taking my truck to the same dealer for all services.

They have performed many warranty and non-warranty services and on every warranty service they noted that I have a fuel modification.

I have all the receipts showing the notes.

They never said anything about it other than noting it on the receipt.

Last month they replaced the #3 injector under warranty and noted the mod.

I went back the other day because I had a raw fuel smell and figured it was either a loose connection or a defective injector.

They had my truck for 3 days, they ordered an injector for it, they weren't going to diagnose which injector until today when they tear her down.

They called me and said that they encountered a problem, I have a fuel mod and that voids the warranty because the mod increases Rail pressure beyond factory specs.

I told them that it didn't void anything on every other warranty service they performed including an injector. I told him that I talked to your service manager about the mod before I even purchased it, he didn't recommend the mod, but said he was okay with me doing it. I also told him that the mod doesn't increase rail pressure above factory tolerances.

They said sorry $1250.00 if you want it fixed. I told them they lost a customer who uses them for service and scheduled maintenance on both my Diesel and my Jeep Patriot. I told them to button her up and call me when she's ready and I'll pick her up.

I know they are going to try and charge me a diagnostic fee of $135.00 which I agreed to, but since they didn't diagnose which injector I plan on not paying it.

Any other advice on how to fight them to get it covered?

P.S. No play you pay comments, as you see above I spoke to them before doing the mod.

What kind of fuel mod? Lift pump or other mod to the fuel rail?

FWIW ad friend of mine had the same issue. The dealer said it would be ok and he lives in Texas. Lost 2 injectors they covered under warrenty and then lost 2 other 2 months later they didn't cover it. They said the 1st set looked like pressure was to high going through them but covered them any way when the 2nd set went same thing and the rail pressure relief valve was gone to so they didn't cover it. Not trying to Nock on Quadzilla but they do raise rail pressure if it connects into that sensor which his did and I beleiever yours does. His was an 06. He sold it and went with a Hemi couldn't risk another 2k bill.

Still waiting for them to call me to say the truck is put back together for pick up, kinda odd that they didn't know which injector until they went to tear her apart, which they hadn't done yet and now they say she needs putting back together.

I guess my main issue is when they called me they could have handled it much better.

Instead of Warranty is voided, they could have said, Hey Adam factory has been getting on us for mods, we'll take care of this repair but you need to get rid of that mod or we'll be forced to void your warranty.

Well I'm leaving to pick her up...I had hoped they had a change of heart since it took so long, but nope, they just took their sweet time. At least talking to the Service manager they didn't flag it. Guess I'll ditch the Quad and find another dealer.

Take off the mod and then take to other dealer. If they didn't report it to Chrysler you should be ok.

The service manager does not have that power. That would have to come from corporate.

If they can't keep there word, knowing you had the mod and doing all the work before. Then try to back door you trying to make some quick cash. There not worth doing business with. Good moving pulling it out. Wish I still had a warranty though on mine, I went through a 100k warranty in less than a year. Good luck to you.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Good luck getting it fixed.

Once you do, you should consider adding a 2 micron filter between your stock filter housing and the CP3. I really think lack of filtration is the culprit in 90+ percent of our injector problems. Sure pressure doesn't help, but pressure with unfiltered fuel or inadequate filtered fuel is the primary problem, imho. I think you need better filtered fuel, Quadzilla box or not.

My truck is still on it's original injectors at 115K miles and I have run Smarty on level 9 for 65K miles and MP8 on 100 percent for probably 40K miles. But I filter the fuel.

Im gonna upgrade to Flux injectors when I get time, money, and more turbo. I am looking forward to hearing Don's report on my stockers when I finally do it. In the mean time, the truck keeps on purring.

Yeah my local dealer wants to void warranty when they see gauges in the truck. When i took mine in i'd put the factory air filter setup back on and the box off.

Ya, I started asking questions about different filter options in the Accessory/Modification forum. Looks like it'll be next month for the 2 micron filter, Registration on Truck and Jeep due this month.

Picking her up today, #1 injector this time, last month was #3...Hometown dealer tried to get Autho to replace all 6 since #3 failed a month ago. I guess if 2 or more are found defective they replace all of them normally, but since it was a month apart they wouldn't do it. Who wants to bet I'll be back in a month with another failed injector?
