have an 04.5 need a new set of rod bearings upper/lower at .010

cummins here in town quoted me 40.29 each for lower and 27.65each for uppers. bout $500 just for rod bearings even worse dodge wholesale wants approx $120 a set . Surely this cant be right for bearings. having trpuble locating some at a good price and need asap. Anybody gotten some recently? need main bearings too and cummins says $300 for the set. $800 for bearings ??????????

Curious...why do you need 10 overs? I work for Cummins and can check for you. You got an ESN?

Math makes good sense, Rod lower at $40.29 x 6 = 241.74
upper at 27.65 x 6 = 165.90
Total 407.64

Main Brgs 300.00
Total 707.64
Plus tax etc, leaves it pretty close to $800 to me.

Guess we all exaggerate a little but this seems pretty close.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
You have to look around to find cheaper. Try the normal parts stores and NAPA. They are avaliable aftermarket for much less. Just find correct store. Gaskets are the same bad news also from Cummins and Dodge. Try a piston or set of rings.

Back on topic. Have you checked other engine builders in the area for their prices.

i n eed .010 bearings cause i had to have the crank turned. ok it was $793 for all the rod and main bearings, that was the exact with tax quote. I may have mis quoted just the rod total price high but the mains were low.

Anyway, i have checked with so many places it is ridiculous. Waiting to here back from good size diesel places around here and in misc. places. Noone has given me a good price or even confirmed they can get them. Place out of Tenn. said they could get them to me from cummins for around $400 , but then called me back and said they may have a problem getting. I have 3 pages of notes with prices and who i talked to it is stupid. I have gotten the rest of my parts, just need the bearings.

Ive emailed all kinds of places on ebay and the same thing. The 04.5 has some sort of split bearings or different style than the previous years. Even this is the case, i dont understand why they cost so much more.

i need these parts to get my motor back together asap

update. believe i found what i need. picking up in an hour locally and will see if it actaully fits correctly. AFE "cracked" rod bearings are made by clevite. Their part number does not come up under and dealer i spoke to, this was part of the problem. Cummins and mopar are way too expensive. Federul Mogul does not make them for this year. Total cost for a set of mains and rods in .010 is about $110. If anyone needs, the part number for the rod bearings from clevits is CB1873AP Clevite main phone is 800-223-9152. if your dealer says it doesnt exist, have them call clevite directly to confirm

thank for everyones help

you know, i dont find it strange at all. With as many contradicitons i have been told regarding parts, im not surprised at anything at this point. All i have to say is there are some very incompetent people out there who dont know their left hand from their right. Even tho i had to do the research and ffind it all on my own, im just glad its done.

the only guys i found useful were alberta engine. Got the exact parts i needed first time, had all of them instock (including oversized pistons) and gave em to me at a tremendous price. Cummins gaskets and everything.
