Need opinions on hts, georend and suncoast trans

I am very possibly looking to get a trans very soon since i cracked my trans casing pretty bad. I wasn't expecting to do this so i am trying to see if the hts is ok compared to the georend and suncoast. If had the money i would be just looking at the 2 better ones but the hts is about 1k cheaper. And i also want to all the other things while i have the trans out like a flex plate and tc. Also billet input and output i guess. I know if i go with georend or suncoast all those parts put me at like 5k right? If i did hts then what flex plate and tc should i go with?

All of those 3 are fine transmissions and you should be happy with them. I will also mention DTT as another fine co. for transmissions. www.dieseltrans.com

What may be more important to you is the trans builder or installer. You may want to find a trans builder (that uses one of these company's parts) and have it built on site...and installed. That way there won't be any finger pointing between the trans co. and the installer........unless you are doing it yourself. Good luck with it.

One thing that may play a big role in it............is where you live. If you live in Florida...you may want to go to Suncoast. IF you are near Virginia....you might was to see Tim Barber with TRE Diesel. If you are anywhere near Iowa...you may want to go straight to Dave Goerend. If you are in Texas, James Northum builds an awesome DTT trans.

I currently am running a Suncoast tranny. It is awesome, however compared to the trucks I have driven with a HTS tranny my tranny feels like it is a stock one. HTS is the closet in Michigan to you I believe, Talk to dusty and he will recommend a TC for you to use. as far as flexplate, he will probably have them in stock. Give each one a call and see what you think. Suncoast is a big company whereas HTS is smaller and I think probably is a little more personal.

HTS is a great co. so im sure you will be happy if you do go that route.

I am not sure how close TiminVa is from you (Tim Barber), but if you would rather have a builder/installer do it for you.......he is probably the closest to you that many guys here on DTR have used and personal knowledge of. This is his website and his handle here on DTR is TiminVA....... http://trediesel.com/

I drove from Gainesville Ga. to St. Lucas Iowa to have Goerend do my trans.
I could not be happier with the service I received or the product/services he sells. Every part is dyno tested (Torque convertor, Valve body, and complete trans once assembled.) The truck is a delight to tow with and drive as a daily driver. My mileage went up because of reduced slip on the TC. Dave is extremely thorough and test ed my installed tranny for close to 30 minutes before letting me head home. There are several good transmission people, widely touted on this site. I do not believe that you can go wrong with any of them. My only personal experience is with Goerend, and I would not think twice about doing it again. Best money I have spent on this truck.

One additional thing... Change the flex plate out for a billet one. The factory is scary whimpy. For the money it is a must do !

I have a full billit from HTS and its great. Called Dusty up and talked for about 15mins, ordered trans and got it the next week with a return tag for my stocker. A couple buddies and I swapped them out in about 6 hours.
