Mystery chime at startup ...

Maybe I'm losing my mind and it has done this since new. But, I have never noticed it until today.

If I turn my ignition key to the ON position and wait for the "wait to start" light to go off and then over to the start position, the truck starts just fine BUT I get a single chime after a couple of seconds. Nothing else. No dash lights. No codes (I checked) ... nothing. It just idles normally.

But, if I start the truck by turning the ignition all the way to start (i.e. don't wait for the "wait to start" light to go off), the truck starts and no chime.

All this is with seat belt firmly buckled. Is this chime trying to tell me something? I looked in the manual and couldn't find anything to explain this.

I know they had to do something to my ECM firmware when they installed my "in tank" lift pump. I wonder if they upgraded it and this is a new behavior?

Thoughts?

Mine has always done this as long as I have owned it. If I look closely when I start it I will see the Brake/ABS lights flash for just a fraction of a second. I have never had any issue with it though. I figure it's just doing a quick diagnostic each time I startup....

Mine has chimed for years, only when it's below zero, way below zero. No codes that I can retrieve and it run's like it was new (what ever that means). It's a Dodge.....

OK. Good to hear. I guess it's been doing this all along and I never noticed. I've only had the truck for 10 years (next month) ...

Thanks for the reassurance!

Mine does it too, but not every time... it does seem to be related to the Brake light mentioned above..

My 05 has done it since new, but about 4 months ago, the brake and ABS light have continued to stay on. No issue with the brakes. As others have said, it is a Dodge thing. Ever one i have owned has done this. Cheap sensors I guess
