One chime after start??

All the suddenly today, I started getting one chime after the motor is started. In the past I didn't have any chimes since I turned off the seatbelt minder. Anyone know what this one chime means?

TIA!!

I get that "one chime" after start on occasion also. To bypass my seatbelt chime, I used a jumper wire in the wiring harness below the seat. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I also pull a trailer with a car alarm installed that illuminates the driving lights on the trailer and truck for 30 seconds after disarm. The funky reverse-direction queertrons could be causing it. I dunno what is causing it and I'm curious to find out.

The chime indicates the seatbelt minder has been turned off. The owners manual tells procedure for turning off minder by fastening and unfastening seatbelt 4 or 5 times with key on (but motor not running) within so many seconds.

Thanks for the info guys but I don't think the chime is selt beat related as even if I start with the seatbelt in, I still get the chime.

I think I have another problem so I'm going to start a new thread about buzzing and clicking.

There's also a chime telling you your windshield washer fluid is low.

Might want to check that.

I get a single chime also and the ABS light comes on for a couple of seconds. It could be a function test. I have the seatbelt chimes turned off per the manual.

Ok... I'm still looking into this and it seems it has to do with the ABS light, as the light stays on for a sec or 2 after the motors started. That doesn't worry me much, but the MIL light stays on until the motor is started, which it has never done before.

Has anyone else noticed the MIL light staying on until the motor is started?

Thanks!!

Here is on answer.
Turn truck on, while the grid heats up buckle the seat belt, put cup in holder get sunglasses etc. = one chime after startup.

Buckle seat belt first, turn truck to on, then then do all that stuff , crank truck= no single chime. I repeated it three times. Same results.

It must be in the memory from when the truck was in the on position without the seat belt connected.
I always turn trudk to "on" first that way, I have less to wait on the grids.

I know one thing, that if I don't open the door and turn the truck off , no chime and no MIL light while the key is on the run position (this is without starting, the position where your wait for the grid heater light to go off). If I turn the truck off, open then shut the door, I have the MIL light on while in the wait for grid heater position and the chime due to the ABS light after it's running. I Still don't get it as in the past I never had the MIL light on until it was started nor the chime from the ABS light.

This is out of the 03 Service manual. I believe it is the seatbelt warning. Mine flashes the seatbelt light and chimes if I start the truck without the belt on.

"FASTEN SEAT BELT
The seat belt reminder system uses both visual
and audible signals. The Instrument Cluster monitors
the driver seat belt buckle switch. When the
ignition switch transitions from OFF to RUN and the
driver seat belt has not been buckled, the Instrument
Cluster will illuminate the seat belt indicator lamp
and sound the chime. The system will always illuminate
the seat belt reminder lamp for four to eight
seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the ON
position. The CHIME will sound during the same
time interval if the driver’s seat belt is not fastened.
The warning lamp will remain illuminated as long as
the seat belt remains unbuckled, and the ignition
switch is in the RUN position. Passenger seat belts
are not connected to the system."

I'm starting the truck with the seat belt fastened, but I fasten it after the ignition swith has been turned to the "on" position. After the heater grids have finished I start the truck and get the one chime.

If I fasten and then let the heater grids do their thing and start the truck no chime.
