my oil report and some questions
I just recieved my oil report on my truck 04.5 no mods other than listed in sig.
I went on this oil change about 5K and a year and 4 months.
The oil report shows fuel at 3% should be 2% or less.
Potassium was at 14 and should be 2 ...
Truck uses no antifreeze and runs good.
I use it mostly on short trips during the winter (less than 20 miles) and then summer it pulls around a 9500 lbs ft wheel camper and that was not to many times last summer as we just did not get out much at all.
Any reasons for concern. Truck only has 14,500 miles on it. I use 5w40 Rotella. Should I show the dealership the report and see what they say
The fuel in the oil really does not suprise me as often even with a grill front in the winter the truck never gets run hard and I do not push on it much when it is cold.
The Potassium thing the report says could be from by products of a newer engine. At 14K I am guessing it still is not truly broke in?
Also I had the TBN checked and it was at 10.3 and said to have loads of additive left.
Also flash point was at 385 Deg. is this becuase of the fuel in it.

If that is all the miles you put on in a year and a half you should change your oil on a monthly schedule not a mileage schedule, say every three to four months. Also start getting it up to operating temperature and run it more to burn the containments out of it.
