My first diesel and have some questions

I am getting an 04 2500 Dodge Cummins 4x4. It has 118,269 miles on it, the tranny was just rebuilt. I have some question about owning and operating a diesel.
1. What kind of tranny fluid should I run it it to make it last?
2. What size exhaust can I put on it without hurting the engine?
3. Is it bad on a diesel to let it set for weeks at a time and not drive it
4. What kind of air filter should I put on it for better throttle response?

Use Mopar or Amsoil ATF 4+ Synthetic fluid. Change it every 30,000 miles. Fluid exchange or drop the pan and filter, your choice. It has a 4 in. exhaust. No other mods are needed except a good muffler, Donaldson, Aeroturbine, etc. It's not bad to let it set for weeks at a time. Your batteries may get weak. I drive mine once a week and get it up to operating temperature. Just my choice. Use the stock filter or an AFE drop in filter. I do not recommend K&N at all. Personal experience. They don't filter worth squat. Use the search function at the top. It has all been discussed previously at one time or another. Lastly, Welcome to DTR.

Thanks Spooler I have read on here that ya'll use 2 cycle engine oil in your diesel which would be the best to use and how much each time I fill up.

1. you didn't say what type of tranny it has (or I'm to asleep to see )
2. I don't believe going bigger is going to hurt anything.
3. I sure hope not... mine sits around lots right now
4. Diesels don't have a throttle. (sorry, couldn't resist)
