Just got my 1st diesel and have some questions...
Just got my 1st diesel and decided to join this forum to start learning. My prior vehicle was a 370whp 410t 4 cylinder Subaru wagon.
I bought a BIGHORN 2500 with the 6.7 liter. All recalls (as of Friday) are done and the truck runs like a champ (700miles so far). Started out getting around 12mpg and now i'm seeing 15.5 on the overhead (accurate?).
A few things i'm interested in and am hoping to learn in this thread:
1. I'd like to level the truck but want to keep a stock (feeling) ride and dont want to void warranty. Are just spacers ok?
2. i'm looking at different wheels, if i do a 2 inch leveling kit what size wheels/tires do most run?
3. When using the block heater, how many hours is too much? what outside temp justifies using it?
4. Do you think alternative fuels (diesel) will be available for us anytime soon?
5. Whats up with idling these rigs?
6. Anyone using engine management on the 6.7's yet? Do they leave evidence on the ECU after being removed?
On the Subaru forums i frequented i was one of the older members who bashed threads like this (lol). If that is you here, feel free to use sarcasm or feel free to give your opinions on any of the topics i have mentioned.
Any info or suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated...
I will also search threads for these topics.

I installed mopar 988 springs. It stiffend up the ride a bit. Raised front end about 1 1/2"
2. i'm looking at different wheels, if i do a 2 inch leveling kit what size wheels/tires do most run?
I run stock so it will fit in my garage.
3. When using the block heater, how many hours is too much? what outside temp justifies using it?
Never used block heater
4. Do you think alternative fuels (diesel) will be available for us anytime soon?

Ecm records idling at 1100 rpm or less, so if dpf clogs up and the dealer decides excessive idling guess who foots the bill. Have you high idle enabled.
6. Anyone using engine management on the 6.7's yet? Do they leave evidence on the ECU after being removed?
Supposedly smarty doesn't. I can't wait to get one.

I know you guys are running 6.7's but my overhead is always between 8% and 11% high on the mileage.
Since you just got the truck, have some fun. Create an Excel spreadsheet to calculate your mileage. That way you can see trends through the life of the truck.
