Yea their is a SO(standard output) and a HO(high output) version for our motors. Just about any new CTD you purchase in Ca is going to be a SO, it's due to their emissions BS. If I would of known that I would not have bought my truck at the time, but it's ok its running fine.

Madhat, you don't have to pull tank.

Thanks, mattk50 and nelrod. I just got back from the dealer, (tech's were clueless about this) but he said that I could get to the top of the tank while everything was on the ground. Man, I'm trying to get some warranty work done, and they're being difficult! Not even performance related stuff, they just won't work with me. That's another thread for another time, though

Sorry about not following up with this post. I was too embarrased driving my wifes VW Passat for the week. I got my truck back today so I now have my manhood back. It was a bad Transfer Pump which I believe most people refer to as a lift pump.

I didn't know about the exposed elbows, I will look into fixing that. Thanks for the info.

XLR8R, My Fuel filter had about 4,000 miles on it. That did cross my mind but I wasn't sure if it could be pluged w/ that amount of miles on it.

Anyway, though it was an inconvenience I still love my truck.

Strange for a bone-stock 04.5 to need a lift pump after 50K miles...

I'm not sure when most people have had to replace theirs. Might make a good poll. I'm not sure what would make it burn out quick. Any Ideas?

my first lift pump went out at 96K the dealer replaced it with the same on the filter housing pump, the next pump started to act funny on the FP gauge 45K miles later by then It was out of warranty so I moved a carter pump back by the tank and it has been running 10-11 psi for about 75k miles.

The filter-mounted LP were plagued by short operating lives that got worse if extra fueling was required through boxes/downloaders.
