my battery blew up!
i have a 07 5.9 ctd 4x4 and i went to start my truck a few weeks ago and it didnt want to start very well then the check gauges light came on then the check engine light came on. i opened the hood to see the caps on the batteries blew off and there was battery acid on everything. i drove it to the dealer so they could look at it. they called me back and said the alternator did not regulate and gave the battery to much voltage and it blew my passenger side battery. then they called me back to say that the acid got on the fender and bumper, they said it needs a new front bumper and to repaint the passenger fender. they said they are going to replace the computer and god knows what else to fix the problem. i just wanted to share my story sorry so long guys.. i hope no one else has this problem.

Welcome to the forum, and sorry to hear about your problem.
Though I've seen batteries explode a time or two, I don't think I've heard of the overcharge/explode problem on a new truck.
Anyhow, at least it sounds like the dealership is interested in making sure that when you get the truck back that everything is back to as-new condition.

Sorry to hear about your problem, but, GREAT to hear your dealership is going to take good care of you. That IS a rare dealership attitude, but then, your problem IS kinda big and very disabling, guess they have no other choice. I hope they get it fixed rapidly and you are happily motoring soon.
