Talking MPG getting much better....

Filled 'er up today and got 19.45 hand calculated...(20.00 on computer). That's w/ EZ on 3. It's been around 17-18 usually, but I pulled my trailer around last tank for about 70 miles, and I guess it helped a bit .
My 2003's best tank was around 16. I believe it's a combo of the 6 spd (of course) and the 3.73 vs. 4.10.
My last truck (2003) seemed to go only 450 miles or so per tank, now I can get more than 600 miles or so.
Anyway, very impressed...FINALLY.

Another 600 here with GOOD mpg!

I am getting good milage with my 600 too. The last tank was right at 20 mpg with mostly highway driving and about 500 miles on the truck. I'm sure glad I got one of the good ones, whatever makes it good is beyond me.

Just curious, what is your build date? Have you had any computer related TSB's done?

Have you done some heavy towing?

Thanks,
Sam

Unfortunately, I'm not sure about the build date.

On or within a couple days of February 25th I called DC and they said the truck just came off the assembly line and was waiting to get on the train so this is close to the build date I guess.

I havn't had any TSB's done but I think by that build date they were already putting the new software in the motors at the factory.

The truck hasn't pulled anything at all yet but right now it has about 950 miles so after 1000 miles I'll change the oil and hopefully get the Komfort 25TBS out!

You can find the engine build date on the driver side valve cover.

You can find the truck build month/year on a sticker the driver's door.

My engine is 2/7/04 and the truck is 2/04.

Thanks,
Sam

My milage is getting better now, started out at 14.7-15.4. Now I'm seeing on the overhead between 17.1-18.7. If I go 55mph I get about 19.1. I'm learning to keep my foot out of it . My sweet spot is 1750 to 1800 rpm and no head wind. Boy it sure makes a big differance with a 15 mph head wind. I've had no problems what so ever so far and enjoy driveing it as much as flying my 50 year old Cessna 180. My build date was Jan 04,04. It's really a sweet truck to drive, I just hope I don't have to eat crow later down the road. I think if any thing is going to happen it would proably be within 10,000 miles I guess. My milage now is 3830.

I just filled up. 27 galons @ 2.25 / gal = ~$61. This tank consisted of mostly around town driving and I did do about 90 miles highway at an average of 65mph. I try to keep my rpms under 2k around town, although I get on it once in a while.

I hand calc'd 14.8 mpg. Computer said 14.1 when I pulled into the station. For what it's worth I reset the computer after every fillup. I am pretty sure I ran Diesel #1 on this tank. It seems the Flying J i filled up at in the mountians was still selling #1, based on the price per galon and what the sign said. My fillup today was Diesel #2.

Mine seems to be getting better, but as i've said before, I'm not upset with what I'm getting. I love driving this truck!

I'll make sure to look at the valve cover sticker again and look at the sticker on the door for the information. I'll post the results either today or tomarrow.

Thumbs up

Just filled up today for the first time. Paid $1.59 per gallon in Flint, MI. Calculate mileage and it came to 17.063 via hand calculation. Now have 485 miles on vehicle, had it 9 days, and love it. Traded in a 2001 dodge 1500 with a gas 360, which I don't miss at all.

Just for kicks I got on the freeway, set the cruise @ 65, and re-set the overhead.
Over a 32 mile trip, I averaged almost exactly 19 mpg (overhead) w/a.c. running.

Approx 2500 miles on the truck now.

The truck build date from the door is 2/04.

The engine build date is 2/15/04.

It runs great!
