Maybe they should. After all they are the ones building the parts that are upping the Hp and torque of the engines. Maybe they should stand behind the claims that their products do not harm engines.

Yea, maybe they should, but they won't. why would they, people are lining up to buy them with the disclaimer on the boxes. why give more than they have to. when one of them says they'll cover my warranty, I'll buy 2 of them

Remember that everytime someone gets away with a bogus warranty claim, it ultimately comes out of our pockets. Too many people not owning up to their own problems. Why do you think insurances cost so much, bogus claims, settlements, etc. As for Chrysler not having the software to detect this, do you not think this cost extra money to develop and install on every vehicle produced? What if they said "our new computer systems can now detect any aftermarket devices and it will only add $500.00 consumer cost", would you want to pay it? I don't modify my vehicle so I wouldn't want to pay it!! I don't think the manufacture should have to become a police force of aftermarket accessories. What about overloaded towing, should we have a detection device for that bacause it strains the drive train? Also, should Chrysler pay for my truck if it is broken into or stolen, it has an alarm system? As for them diagnosing whether the problem was caused by the accessory or not, again, unless it's very obvious it had nothing to do with the product, this takes a mechanics time, and time is money. Do you want to go to work for 8 hours a day and only be profitable for 6 hours, if you have a boss I know he doesn't want that and if your in your own business you darn well don't want that. And now i'm getting off my soapbox to go and get a beer. Peace

I don't want to get in the middle of this debate but I noticed several people say that the dealer can't detect the boxes, I've known my service writer since I was a kid and I asked him about putting a box on my truck and he said don't do it, if you have a failure that might be caused by a box the first thing they look at is the parametures (spelling) recorded by the ECM mainly the fuel pressure. If it's been higher that stock then there goes the warranty. He said I could put any cold air intake or exhaust system I wanted and I'd be ok but engine failure and they'ed look at the ECM for extreames in fuel pressure because they've been burnt so much. This comes from someone above him and he said he couldn't help me with an engine, thats more than he has control of. I believe he told me the truth, he knows I wouldn't abuse my truck. Just something to add for thought..LCH
It doesn't come out of our pockets, it comes out of DC's pockets. When you bought the truck, part of that price went into a potluck at DC for warrenty. Let's say that enough of the purchase price of your vehicle that goes into the potluck covers a whole new engine. You never try to win the potluck, but DC's cut of your money is. You gave up your money for the truck, DC owns the money now, and part of it goes to warrenty. If someone gets their engine out of it, he paid for it already, and didn't take from what you think is your share of warranty. People need to stop crying about "injustice". It happens, the world's not fair, and everyone should mind their own business. If he gets a new engine, good for him, I'll be happy for him, not come on here crying that it's not fair. No **** it's not fair, it's life. If he beats the odds, congratulate him instead of being jealous he got away with something you lack the testicular fortitude for, period.

Well as more and more goes towards to the warranty the price goes up.............follow me here............that comes out of honest peoples pockets.
John,
If thats your way of thinking, oh well, nothings gonna change it nor do I give a **** to bother to try. Just don't be the one complaining about cost increases (you know, the "potluck" fund you speak so wisely of). I guess every product you buy you feel the right to change it anyway you like and let others pay for problems down the line even though it was designed within certain pararmeters. Oops, I was trying to convince you but I don't think your capable. Sorry, my mistake.

What a bunch of crybabies. I know several people screwed by the auto makers... all of them. They have turned it into a game that they are getting very good at. If you don't like there game quit buying new vehicles! What a thought! Not only do you not get a warranty, but you pay half price. At that rate you can afford to replace parts. Granted no vehicle should be flogged until broken in, but I can remember when my father bought brand new Chevelles in the '60's and immediately modified them and burnt the tires off of them. 12000 miles and he'd buy another one. Back then it cost $2400-$2800 for the car. He paid $20,000 for our house. A new truck is now around $40,000 and I paid less than $70,000 for my house, anyone see a problem here? Hey buddy good luck with your truck. If it goes like most you will get it fixed but the fenders will be scratched and it will look like it has been raped under the hood. The mechanics these days have no respect for the vehicles. Shoot I have an Avalanche that the plastic panels faded out UNDER warranty but GM said they would do a one time "armorall" treatment to fix it. It lasted until the next bath! No further service was authorized and GM was firm. My response ... no more new Chevy's ... ever! I bought the Dodge for the Cummins, did I mention my Great, Great Uncle was Henry Ford!!!! Powerstroke is a joke.
You're the one that seems incapable of common sense. Let me ask you this, how much of the purchase price of your truck was seperated at DC for warranty repairs? You won't see me complaining about the price of anything, sticky. Market determines the value of something. If you think even 10! brand new longblocks put into Dodge's under warranty cost _YOU_ anything, it don't. You paid your price, your money is gone. How are they going to get you for more? Everyone's always paranoid about dealers denying vaid repair work, well guess what brother, it happens if your modded or not. Hell, you think we have it bad, in my Mitsu days with the Evo8 they were voiding warrentys ON ENTIRE VEHICLES, not just powertrain, EVERYTHING if you were "caught" entering a performance driving event. Not being modded, not having a rod through the side of your block, you could be 100% stock, in a driving event, and have every bit of warrenty voided just like that. Did that keep people who blew up their engines playing with a piggyback from getting a new engine? Nope, it's luck o' the draw. And lastly, brother, this is a friendly debate, I don't want us to be on bad terms over 1 thread, so keep it cool, it's just the internet [laughs]
