I agree you play, you pay. Good luck BLK Dually

if BLK Dually gets another engine for free, good for him. It's DC's fault for not making sure that the boxes/mods can be detected.
I think everyone should be running a box right now. They can't tell, it gets better fuel economy if (like mentioned above) driven the same as before the box was installed due to the timing changes, and more power to boot.
Shame on DC in this instance for not fail safeing something that could be easily programmed. Shame on Blk Dually for lying to us.
Barry Smith and JPDiesel, How hard should we be on someone caught lying red handed?
I know what my daddy would have done if it were me.
Hey Big block
What's with the "shame on DC" for not "fail safing this and that?
What BS is that?
They have no responsability whatsoever if you decide to modify your vehicle.
If someone were to buy a new vehicle and put in a hot cam and then blew up the engine , would you then blame the manufacturer for not putting in a warning in the owner's manual not to do so?
Is it not just common sense, that if you add performance enhancing devices, that you may change the reliabilty parameters that were designed into the engine from the manufacturer?
As said by many...go ahead and bomb your vehicle...it is your choice...but don't expect the manufactuer to cough up for damages when st*t hit the fan.

BS? This is a chat room, therefore its all BS?
To answer your question, no the manufacturer should not pay if you put in a modified camshaft and you blow up the engine. That is not what is happening here.
DCX has no way to tell if you put a box on. They can tell if you change the camshaft.
Shame on DC for not putting in the software that can tell if you put in a box.
Kind of like not using the software that Cummins has to tell if your injectors are bad. They expect your DC tech to be able to "hear" if an injector is bad based on a difference in noise when you shut off an injector.

But your alarm company should be paying if that is what happened.

So who's the burglar (truck owner?). Who is the alarm company (DC?). Who owns the house (truck owner?).
So the burglar owns the house? In that case its insurance fraud, but if he can get away with it, shame on the alarm company.
What a ridiculous analogy.

Not ridiculous at all. You try to put the sole responsibility on the one who stands to be defrauded/take the loss (DC or the homeowner) to protect themselves against being ripped off. If they aren't successful (by installing appropriate software or an appropriate alarm system respectively), then the ones doing the ripping off (the BOMBer filing the warranty claim or the burglar hauling away the loot) are not to blame.

In this case the homeowner/DC doesn't know that their house has been robbed (box plugged in), so if the homeowner doesn't know that he's been robbed but all his stuff is gone, does he think his wife left him?
If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it does it really make a sound?
In the end, I see what you are saying.
You shouldn't have to pay more for your future trucks because he got a new engine for free even though he was voiding his warranty by plugging in a box.
The fact is, he received a new engine from DC. More power to him. That which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
It all will come around for him in the end.
There are prolly more cliche's appropriate for this thread, but its boring now.
I for one wish I could trust a car company to play it straight with me with a warranty. I'll bet the car company feels that their customers would play it straight with them.
In a perfect world(no deceit I mean) a person running chips and boost foolers and clutches would have no problem going to their dealer and getting an honest analysis. I would love to hear the tech writer say "we checked your blown head gasket and melted pistons and at first we thought it was your mods. Our mechanic noticed a flaw on the head gasket and we also pop tested the injectors and the two cylinders that failed were probably going to go anyway since the pop test indicated they were going off too soon. So we have decided that we were at fault and the repair will be no charge. We are sorry for your inconvenience."
The dealer would just like to trust that the customer was telling it like it is. I am sure that dodge knows that many of their trucks get modded and that many or most hide it from them while under warranty. There is no fix to this problem and the fiction I dreamed up won't happen. Its not JUST Dodges fault that they void so many warranty repairs. The frustrating part is when they deny innocent people because of the others.
My warranty is up and I can say this without fear of hypocisy. I put an air cleaner and Amsoil in at 62k and the injectors and EZ went in after 90k(started with 275's then my stage 3's just recently). I would have left the mods in if I had a problem....honest.
