More Warranty Concerns

So in the course of servicing the trans the other day I put the Mag Hytec DD pan on. Their instruction for the spacer state a preference for the old style open filter. Based on that advice, I went ahead and put one on since I usually have a couple on-hand for the 727s anyway. They said it is better because it provides more filter surface area.

Now gawd forbid the trans takes a dump two months from now, what's the dealer going to say? Has anyone with the DD Mag pan used the old style filter and later had the dealer see it?

Dang, you just can't win.

I just thought it would be nice to know if I needed to R&R the Mag pan and filter if the dealer ever needs to see it. Guess nobody around here has a Mag DD pan on their 48RE.

I have one on my truck. The dealer did the shuttle shift recall, they removed the pan, did the recall, then reinstalled with the fluid that I provided. They put a new filter in per my request, it was the filter that the truck calls for. No problems from them at all.

Thanks, Tim. Anybody use the old style filter like Mag-Hytec recommends?
