Re:Mobile Delvac 1300

Sounds like good advice. Any suggestions what I can do with 6 gallons of Rotella? Unless I use it for the next six oil changes in my Infiniti I30. Guess it should be good for that eh?

Re:Mobile Delvac 1300

Is it rotella T synthetic or just regular rotella t? How many miles are on the truck at this point? I'm not sure if its a good oil for a gasser or not, diesel oils have different additive chemistries.

Re:Mobile Delvac 1300

This oil is (according to the label) a premium heavy SYNTHETIC duty motor oil. On the back it says that it is recommended for new and older diesel and gasoline powered vehicles. This includes personal vehicles such as on-road, off-road, truck rental, pickups, delivery, utility and school bus fleets. It exceeds the diesel engine requirements of API Ch-4, Caterpillar, Cummins CES 20076, Detroit Diesel, Dodge, Ford, GM, International, Mack EO-M Plus, Volvo and others. For gasoline engines it exceeds API SL.
I could not get it in 15W-40 as the 5W-40 is supposed to take the place of the 15W-40. At least that is what the blurb says about it.

Re:Mobile Delvac 1300

Forgot to answer one question. The truck is going on 6,000 miles and the car has about 70,000 miles. The car has been on synthetic oil for many oil changes and the engine still sounds like new. ie almost noiseless. The truck had it's first oil change about a 1000 miles ago.

Re:Mobile Delvac 1300

The oil should be fine really, but if you want, one thing you could do with it would be to keep it for a soot cleaning cycle. Wait till your truck has 30-40K on it, and dump the oil, fill with the rotella, run the truck 500 miles and dump it. This will help to clean out anything that may have built up - soot and contaminants...

Re:Mobile Delvac 1300

;D dont need to ever worry about hitting 200K with that crap!! ;D Anything will work thats ci-4 rated, but IMHO if you're going to spend that much on a truck you should treat it to the best fluids.

Re:Mobile Delvac 1300

I hope my joking tone came thru. Anyway sorry, imho-in my humble opinion.....

To answer your question, I think delvac 1 is the ultimate diesel oil. It comes in ci-4 rated 5w-40 synthetic. Great stuff. There are other good oils out there as well but D1 rules!

Re:Mobile Delvac 1300

;D Yeah I know what IMHO means.
I also know that Mobile oil makes the best synt. oil for cars, but had not known of there Diesel oil.
I have always used the Premium Blue in my 96 and it worked good. I think after I get the 20K breakin miles I`ll check out the Mobile Oil. Thanks for the info. 8)

Re:Mobile Delvac 1300

Good thinking, just be sure its Delvac 1 5w-40, NOT delvac 1300 or any other delvac, which are dino/petroleum oils.
