Question Mobil 1 ATF

Is there a problem with running this oil in a 48re? I know to use a synthetic fluid which this is but was just curious. There doesn't seem to be much talk about it in the forums. Thanks for any help.

As long as it's compatible w/ ATF+4 or has the same friction modifiers.

I don't think mobile-1 syntec is compatible with chrysler ATF+4, If you are going to buy it at a local parts store or something like that, i am pretty sure castrol syntec is compatible!

When I changed out the factory fluid about 9 months ago,Mobil 1 wasn't approved.

Although I didn't want to,I used Amsoil instead.

Not that Amsoil is bad,I've just never had the results I expected after listening to all the hype.

The info I have read on the Mobil 1 web site is they recommend Mobil 1 ATF for Dodge trans but no where does it say there ATF meets or exceeds Mopar ATF+4 specs. So I would not use it, that an Mopar ATF is made from group III crude oil base stock, its not synthetic, its just highly refined Dino oil. If you want 100% group IV or V man made synthetic ATF then buy either Redline or Amsoil.

I put Lucas Simi syn in my 518 and it's running pulling and hitting passing gear alot easier and and seems to hold harder, so far I really like it...

Thanks for the info. everyone! That narrows it down to two locally avail. fluids; Valvoline syn. or Mopar(@ Wal-Mart). Any preferences?

I'm assuming your refering to me.

I don't like the notchy feel of my G56. I read post after post about improved shift quality with Amsoil. Drained the factory fill and replaced with Amsoil and if there is a difference I can't feel it.

I also ran Amsoil in my '98 Z-71. I ran a few used oil analysis with the Amsoil and wasn't overly impressed with the results.

A lot of guys swear by it,but IMO its overhyped and overrated.

Its a top tier lube.Amsoil and a few others are the best of the best.I don't notice or very little differance in Chevron or some other name brand top tier fuels over the no name couple a cent per gallon fuel eaither. But over the long haul their is a differance.I understand about the trans feel. Some things are just the way they are.

Of the 2 you list buy the one that is the cheapest as both are more or less the same.

Been running the Amsoil since 15k in mine (91k now) with no issues but I did flush it all out of the converter when I did it. Changed it at 78k and it was almost the exact same color as the new stuff.
