MBRP Exhaust

I did some research and found a good price on an MBRP cat back exhaust for my dads 2006 Dodge Cummins. Here in Pa we have inspections so thought it best to keep the cat and not do a turbo back exhaust. Hope the down pipe and cat last or do you recommend replacing now.

Any comments on the MBRP exhaust or any other recommendations would be appreciated. Let me know if there is any drone with the MBRP.

Thanks,

Ron

Ron,
I had the MBRP and didn't like the drone. I ended up putting this cat back system from Flowmaster on mine. It's been on for about a year now. To me, it sounds just right. Not too loud, even when towing. I would recommend a cat back system, rather than turbo back. Leave the cat. there is really no gain by removing it. I've tried it with and without, no difference in power or mpg.
This is the link on the system I bought, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLO-19101/

When I bought my 05 with 22k miles the previous owner had put a turbo back 5 inch complete package on it. I'm unsure of the brand of muffler. I knew it was loud but wanted this super nice low miles truck so bad I was willing to take it as is. After the first time towing we decided the drone was unbearable!! After some research I realized what had happened, someone had actually taken the cat off. I thought the 04's had no cat and possibly the 05's. I hounded the dealer to give me a factory cat and I would go the expense of putting it on. The price of this unit is near $900 and I used the excuse that he sold me a truck that was represented to be EPA compliant and it was not!! He readily agreed and shipped me a new cat within a week.

I also bought a OEM 4 inch exhaust and muffler from a local dealer put it all on myself. It was the best money I have spent!! No drone and I could tell absolutely no difference in power or economy (hand calculated). Why people want to screw around with these fine engines is beyond me!! There is ample power to do anything I need to do in a 2500 series truck. It is a joy to pull my 31' 5th wheel with this now "stock" truck.

I put a MBRP on the last two powersrtokes that I had and loved it. I never experienced a drone and never had a problem getting a sticker.
