manual tranny Question?
manual tranny Question?
I have about 221,000 on my stock trans and a south bend 3,600 DD, Not very nice miles. I have a viration under moderat acceleration. Could it be coming from the Trans? Bearings weiring out? I just want my truck to be as dependible as it has been all thease miles, just wondering if I should get it reabuilt or get a new one (rebuilt one I am asuming?).
I'd check the clutch, driveline and everything else first and save a trans overhaul for last. I've even had bad tires make me swear I had a driveline problem - vibration at certain speeds. I put that truck on my bros hoist and ran it at all speeds and we couldn't find a thing wrong. So I blamed it on tires and after a few 1000 more miles the vibration completely disappeared and never came back. Craig
I have the one pice shaft and the U joints are good there.
What would I have to do to check the clutch? It is not slipping. I know there is 42,000 on the 3,600 dd.
I can't see it being the tires when it only happens under exceleration. when just crusing there is no vibration. (its like a shudder like when the hanger bearing goes out, but I have the one pice alum shaft.)
