Mag-Hytec Front Differential Cover

Has anyone installed either a Mag-Hytec or a PML front cover on a 2007 2500 Quad cab. If so did you have to remove the driver side tie rod? If yes how much trouble is this? Any clearance problems once installed?

I just installed a rear Mag-Hytec cover yesterday. Very easy install and it looks good. I mainly did it for the drain plug but the looks help.

I do not see much talk about front covers and am not sure why since they have the same drain interval as the rear differential.

Thanks,

Tom

I've seen a few post where people have put one on the front of the 2006's but they did say it was a very tight fit getting the last few bolts back in to the top of the cover.

And there are lots of reports of the Mag-Hytec cover making contact with the track bar as the suspension cycles. Mag-Hytec is aware of the problem but isn't going to fix it.

I have them on my truck. There is very minimal clearance but, the cross bar doesn't hit it at all. Forget dual steering stabilizers though, the driver side will hit the shock.

They told somebody else that but they still had an issue. Search around and you'll find many posts on the subject.

Keep up updated.. I am a little over due for the 15k Fluid change in the front and rear diff's.. I was going to change the covers out to something with a drain plug when I do it...

Does PM not have any clearance issues? I have Mag-Hytec on the trans and rear dif but am mainly looking for something with a drain plug for the front since you really can't see the front dif very well from the road like you can the rear dif.

I'm not sure, but D.Wiggs emailed them awhile back. I haven't seen him on here lately but he'd know.

No problem with mine. Installed about 9 months ago. Very easy install with lift. I've heard that with a lift it doesn't rub on track bar. Mine doesn't rub at all. One thing I like is the thickness of metal and the angle at the bottom of the pan. It is somewhat like a rock shield. Very thick. If I didn't have one I'd buy one.

Installed front and rear on my 06 in a short amount of time. I would recommend this to anyone. Real easy drain and fill from this point on.

Front axle was hard to get all the bolts in at the same time... I had to jack the frame up.

Joe Donnelly covers this in a past TDR issue... I believe he put jack stands under the front frame both sides. It drops the axle down and gives you more room.

From what Don told me, the Mag fronts won't work with his lift at all; not sure about others.
