lower than normal fuel pressure?

ok so i have a fuel boss mechanical pump on my truck and i noticed my gauge is reading 13 psi at idle. usually it is 17 at idle. i rev it up a little bit and it goes up to 20? do i have an issue? i dont know if my fuel filters are plugged? i installed a 2 micron less than 4000 miles ago it shouldnt be plugged already should it? i changed my canister mounted filter at about the same time something obviously isnt right here or is it? i run a baldwin 7977 in the canister but i think im going to go to wix for the fact that i have extra filtration with the cat filter what do you guys think? thanks

or could my gauge be bonkers its mechanical liquid filled? thanks

Fuel pressure senders seem to be prone to failure. I keep having ground issues with mine. Every couple weeks I have to pop the hood and wiggle the ground wires and then it will start working right again. Your gauge is mechanical but the sender is electronic, right?

So you have actual tubing carrying fuel from the filter into your cab? That's a dangerous setup there....

Glad it's just the gauge. Genos carries a setup for this if you prefer to keep it under the hood.....

dodgezilla it is not dangerous to carry fuel into the cab. all heavy equipment and large trucks for the last 60 years have it this way. i think a government worker from California must have come up with that one.

Great idea.... NOT

Wix is NOT water separating. I wouldn't use a WIX, and I even like WIX filters. Chose a good water separating filter, Fleetguard or Baldwin and buy a case of them. Put the case in your shop, and they will be really easy to get because they are right there when you need them!

carl48, I don't think that having a line or gauge break while I'm driving down the road and spewing diesel fuel all over me is something I would want to have happen. It may not ignite from a cigarette but you and your truck are gonna smell for a long time. Not to mention that your initial reaction to fuel going everywhere could cause an accident. I'd say that's dangerous...
That's what I meant.
