Lower Egts with Turbo, best option
Lower Egts with Turbo, best option
HI there, I have an 05 6 speed with an edge juice with attitude, afe intake and 4in straight pipe and my egts are through the roof. Going up the mountain with an unloaded 2000lb trailer, I can barley keep her at 50 mph any faster and I'm hitting 1400 easy, I'm looking at doing a bigger turbo and wondering what would match best with the edge juice and lower my egts. I'll rip the edge out too if that's causing the problem.

What are your boost levels? That is always the 1st thing to check when EGT's are high.
If boost levels are low, you could have piping, joints or an intercooler leak, or turbo issues.
However, any interceptor type module is old technology and no longer a good option for these trucks.
The Edge J/A runs hot EGT's even on the lower levels.
For your 2005, even a basic Smarty programmer is a better choice than the Edge J/A.
Custom ECM tuning options now exists for these trucks which is the best solution. HPT and Smarty UDC Pro.
Remove the Edge J/A and all those harnesses. Purchase a good set of gauges, standalone or OBDII.
You will need a standalone boost gauge no matter what you do.
The stock MAP/boost sensor is only accurate for up to 35psi or so.

Your boost levels should be higher than "normal" with the Edge J/A.
Your boost levels should be 34-36PSI at full throttle up a hill.
