low sulpher fuel??
Ok nice but can I use this new .50 PPM stuff in my 06 CTD with out any headaches? The manual does not talk about it and I know the 07s must not get any evil sulpher but just not sure about going the other way.

the new is 15ppm, and yes you can use it fine. most will recommend using some form of treatment and/or additive to make up for the lubricity lost from the removal of sulfur.

Its fine, most all stations around here have already converted to the 15ppm. I run a quart of 2 stroke and 8 oz of Power service every fill up. Make up for the difference and runs smoother, quieter and gets better fuel mileage

The problem with LOS fuel is in the winter it still gells up. The fuel stations here in New York can't post LOS fuel on there pumps because in the winter they cut it with kero , witch is not a LOS fuel.

Im making my own additive its called "Urban Legend Mix" one part axle lube some ATF, a little MMO and stanadyne. Cram that in your tank, no more ULSD problems. Just Kidding. Just use a good fuel additive like Howes, power service, or stanadyne and u will do fine.

Do NOT use ATF.It has propertys in it that could scuff internals of injectors, pumps etc.Worked years ago on big rigs.Times have changed. There are fliuds designed to be used in the fuel on these trucks.ATF is NOT one of them.

I picked up a case of the large containers of Stanadyne "one shot", and also one 8oz bottle. Each of the larger containers (there are 6) treats 240 gals, so that means 1,440 gals in total. So I figure about 48 fill ups with my supply for my stock tank. I refill the 8oz bottle from the big jugs, and carry it in the truck, and dump/refill for each tankful. That works out to an additional cost of $3.37 per fill up, or around .11 per gallon. With my use, that is a cost of under $20 per month, which seems like an inexpensive way to increase MPG and keep critical parts lubricated.

Guys, I am fairly new to Cummins diesel engines so please bear with some of my ignorance, but is it neccessary to run the fuel additives? I have an '03, and I had to work real hard to be able to get it a few month's back, saving all I could muster, and I really like it and want it to last as long as possible. Also, if you believe it is neccessary is there any one particular, or even more than one, fuel additive that I should stay away from?

I don't use any (I'll throw a bottle of something in every once in a while) and don't feel I need to on a regular basis. But thats just my opinion, others will disagree.

From what I have read, the oil refineries are adding a lubricant to the low sulfur diesel fuel. Probably would not hurt to add more lubricant but it probably is not necessary. Also, Cummins Engine Company stated in a publication that additional lubricant is not necessary.

Hey DEEREFARM06. . . .
I like your comment about adding in a bit of 2 stroke oil with each tank. . .Makes sense to me at least. . . Thanks. . I will play around a bit and see what I end up with. . . .

Guys, I called BP-US and actually got a person on the phone, weird huh. Anyway the man said they do add extra lubricants to the low sulfur, and the ultra low sulfur fuel. But he also said jokingly that he guesses in about 10 years we will know if they added enough. Kinda back where I started, I guess. I want to know before damage is done.
