Low Fuel Pressure

In the last 2 weeks, my fuel pressure's been reading 7-8 at idle (historically 8-9 is normal)...i was due for a fuel filter change so i just did that this afternoon. Instead of using the 10 micron filter, i used the 7 micron filter (from geno's).....well, i'm still at 7-8 at idle...

Thoughts? My LP getting tired?, or does it make sense that a 7 micron (vs. 10) would lower pressure 1-2 psi?

Thanks in advance

I noticed your from Phoenix so this comment likely doesn't apply...however if the temperature is lower than usual the fuel pressure can drop some due to the fuel being thicker/more dense and requiring more effort to pump. When I was stock I used to have about 8-9 psi in the Summer and 6-7psi in the winter at idle. I'm sure Phoenix is still fairly warm. 7-8 sounds OK still. What are your pressure during WOT? I assume 5-6psi? That is still Ok. If you start getting low pressure when getting on it then I would be concerned. I was concerned even without low pressure due to the fact that nothing ever craps out at a convenient time and didn't want to chance the typical lift pump crap out while towing through some mountain pass so I rectified the problem and got myself a GDP kit. Now I have 21psi at idle and 17+\- at WOT. Now more worries of when it'll die.

Well, it is about 20-30* cooler than it was....

My problem is with Smarty Beta 4.4 SL i can get it down to 0 at wot, even moderate throttle will get me to 5-6psi....

I'm definately getting a GDP soon....just dont know if it's going to be the 392 or the fuel boss....and my biggest concern is the pickup at low fuel levels....need to come up with a manual switch to utilize the stock pump...
