loud clunk when i put in reverse from the driveshaft

just about everytime I go in reverse, a loud clunk from the driveshaft appears. could it be the rear pinion seal? since that is already leaking a little? I bought the seal just havnt put it in yet.

if it's coming from the rear end.....you've got trouble. Better hope it's u-joints. It would make sense that a bad u-joint or two mucked up your pinion seal.

My suggestion would be to jack up the rear , crawl under there and turn the rear tire to see were it is coming from . If the rear pinion seal leaked out all the oil you may have toasted the rear end but most likely it is u-joints , that would be my guess .

My truck also had a loud noise from the rear end. It turned out to be the ring and pinon. Covered under warranty. Now it's like a new truck!

I put one in my 05 and it wasnt as easy as it looks, I thought it was a pain in the rear. sounds like you need to keep that thing out of the mud

its only seen mud a few times and trust me, I am done with that and have been done with that for a whole, besides that little mudding incident a few weeks ago
