My 06 has been very good so far, replaced 2 seals in 115k, I do all the maintanance at what the book says, from what I have read the 06 and 07 seem to be the best of the 3rd gen`s.

The 2006-07's with the manual transmissions and lower mileage are gettting tough to find. Especially an unmodified one. I had been looking for more than a year before I stumbled on my 2007 G56 4x4.

That being said. ----> I'd say go for it if the price isn't out of the world.

No issue with mine. Only real wheel seals at 30k miles but nothing since and have 113k miles now. Even the stock clutch still.

You aren't kidding about tough to find. After 2 years of searching, I finally found the truck in my signature. It only has 36,000 miles on it. Needless to say, I am .

Good going. If I had looked into it more, I would have got a standard and not the auto I have.

See if it had a steering linkage recall done, change the multifunction turn signal under warranty before 150,000 mi, check the fuel tank vents. Put a Baldwin BF7977 into the OEM housing and add a 2 micron filter after it.

Only issues I have had:
Tach doesn't work
On my third set of front hubs

Other than that been a great truck. Get a Smarty Jr. and enjoy!

Did you try the tach fix DIY posted on the cummins forum? It works for most who try it.

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3r...-issues-3.html

When you click on the link it takes a while to load, but it's a good DIY that is worthwhile trying.

Got my 06 several years back has the 6 speed manual and some small mods done to it. Replaced clutch {pull a 13k fifth wheel} and had a new AC pump installed. The recirculation door had broken off from its hinges easy fix other than that it is a towing machine.

06 ad 07's are a personal favorite. The smarty's and other tuners are nice, but you have the option to go for efiLive on that truck. If you are going to get a tuner, that would be my first choice.
