Limp Mode? No tranny codes but not working right

I got a dealer to scan for codes and was told there were none.

When stopped, if I move the shift from R to N or D to N the engine RPM jumps from 700 to about 1100 momentarily and then returns to normal right away.

When I put it in D or R and let off on the brake, with the truck empty it will accelerate for a sec then stop accelerating after its moving. But If I step on the accelerator if crawls away like it has no power until 15km/hr then accelerates normally and shifts through all gears.

Its starting out in first because it shifts through all the gears properly.

After it gets moving it seems like it has normal power.

If I tow a trailer I have to be careful where I stop because the truck can't seem to get it moving easily from a stop. The engine does not rev up from a stop, but once going after 15km/hr or so it has no problems towing a fully loaded trailer.

It had this problem for a while so I changed the shift governor solenoid and pressure sensor and I set the bands. The shifts are crisp, the shift points all seem similar and the tack needle climbs and drops almost the same for each shift.

Does anyone know if this is a tranny or engine issue. I have no codes, I also got a dealer to check for codes and they found none. No CEL light.

After reading this my first thought was your apps (accelerator pedal postion sensor) is giving you a problem. Not sure if it works on your truck but you could try resetting it. Disconnect batteries for 5 to 10mins. reconnect batts, turn key to run; do not start; slowly press to throttle to the floor and release slowly. Turn truck off. Go for a test drive and see if it helped.

The only time mine has gone into limp mode was when the fuel filter was plugged, got a real bad tank of fuel in Utah threw a code, or check engine lite, changed filter on the side of the road, got some new fuel and change the filter again after a few hundred miles used some addative, but it would hardly move at all, the code did go away later.

Thanks, this is worth a try before trying more expensive ones like the TC.

You also twigged my memory, this past winter I had several occasions where it seemed like the accelerator was stuck, the truck would try to run away. I chocked it up to a linkage problem and snow and ice on the floor.
