Angry Like a toothache......

It's just like having a toothache for a week and then arriving at the dentist with no pain. I have fought with a slipping clutch and a clunking DMF for a little while now. I had to take off my XZT and I couldn't run my Smarty on any thing but SW1. GEEZ!!!GOSH!!! I now have my SBC OFE on the ground and planning on getting it in this weekend. I have sold my XZT and plugged it in to verify it works fine. Also since the new clutch is here, why not smoke the other for what it's worth. You know what.....?

NOTHING!! I think I could pull off in fifth with it on SW7 stacked on the XZT with the way it's behaving today. Don't fret, I'll keep trying. It's getting the new clutch whether it likes it or not. Just had to vent.

Unless you are going to replace the flywheel also dont go out and smoke the clutch, tends to destroy the flywheel along with the clutch.

The SBC kit for G56 comes with a flywheel. A nice solid one piece flywheel.

I think I'll have an old-fashioned disc throwing contest. Points for distance, style and hernia counts.

The DMF weighs about 83lbs. You can throw it. I'll just do the filming....... Man! I wish we could have worked something out on mine before I traded it in......

You didn't give much notice. At 83 lbs, at least it weighs less than what's going in. Would have been an awesome sight having twins up on jackstands. We'd have made RQ (Redneck Quarterly) for sure. Or at least the Ferd guys could have gotten a laugh.

Be careful with the clunking DMF. If the flywheel is shaking the truck, this could be very hard on your main bearings. You also don't want that DMF to come apart and go threw the floor board. If it were just a solid flywheel then I would say...ROAST THAT SUCKER.

Yeah, couldn't figure what to vid or get pics of with the clutch going out. I could vid the truck revving and not going anywhere. Or maybe slowing down instead of keeping speed. Just gotta keep it going till Sat night.

Thanks Peter, top notch kit.

If it were old worn out tires, then that's another thing.........

I was thinking more like just smokin' the clutch and slippin' it bad. No need to waste tires! Hard to video the smell of a fried clutch too! LOL

It's in.....DMF= junk. It has obvious marks where it had slipped. It was so loose my kids could move it and make it clunk. All of the springs were intact though. Pressure plate had marks as well evident of slipping. Clutch disk looked brand new. New clutch=no more clunking and actually quieter going down the road. I had the strength of 2 1/4 men for the last three days when it wouldn't go in. When it slid forward into position and was bolted tight, I had the strength of about 1/2 a man. It all caught up so quick. BUT.....

DZ-if I make the trip to VA to fling this thing, you still up for taking pictures?

Just need patience to allow break in period before plugging Smarty in....

Definitely video it!

But don't get mad if we laugh when you have to find another bell housing or other associated parts. Way too many things can go wrong, most serious would be injuring yourself or someone else with flying pieces of mayhem. Yep, I'm a wet blanket but I'm glad you got a new clutch. The truck should be allot of fun to drive after it's in.

Just change it , or you'll be posting ," what do you think this noise is?", it happened after I smoked my old clutch.
