Lift Pump Toast?
Lift Pump Toast?
My original lift pump with 84,000 on the clock is I think going bad.It acts like it's starving for fuel at wot. Engine started sputtering and almost died.Fuel filter is ok. No check engine light. Then it started running just fine again. Am I going to look like an idiot going to dealer and asking for an intank pump under warranty with only my word on what it's doing?
If you explain the conditions well, they should be able to recreate them. The pump should also fail the tests if it is the cause of the trouble as well. Be dilligent, but patient. Hopefully your service department will be competent enough to figure it out. I would make sure to explain to them that if they intend on charging you for diagnosis, that you would like a detailed description of tests performed and the results! I don't think that would be too much to ask.

Geno's Garage has replacement, on filter pumps for the 03-04.5 years. Mine is working fine but I purchased one for that day when it poops. I also purchased one for installation on the "Princess's" Liberty crd. Better than the "in-tank give me all your money option" and another option to fass and all the other after market choices...
I just don't want to be stranded along the road somewhere. They know they have a problem with these original lift pumps. You would think they'd just replace the thing and be done with it.
