leaking injector???
so i've had my truck for two weeks and on the way home last night my check gages light comes on. I looked at my oil pressure and it was at zero, so i shut the truck down and pulled over. I checked the oil after letting it set for few minutes and it was about an inch high on the stick. It didn't really smell like diesel but that low sulfer stuff don't really smell like diesel to me anyway. Any thoughts to a new cummins owner would be greatly appreciated.

Hope you have better luck than I did. Had #4 injector fail, filling crankcase and covering truck. Dealer finally got injcector and replaced. Drove truck home checked oil and still half fuel or so it seemed by feel. Took back next morning and had to pay for them to re-change oil & filter. Now it is fine & oil feels like oil and looks normal instead of watery.
Other problem is now have code P0630 and have to guess it is a problem with their reflash of the truck done wrong also.
Good luck.....

Oil consumption or leaking issue, does'nt sound like an injector. Top off your oil and record how much you added, inspect oil filter for proper torque, (mine was loose) then run engine and inspect for leaks.

Sounds like injector to me too. You could always have an oil analysis done but that would take a little too long to get the results back. Take it in and have them fix it, dont drive it around like that.

As above, Take it in immediatly. Though I had a problem, drove home 5 miles. Less than 1 inch over full at home. Drove to dealer in Lansing less than 20 miles, Full crankcase, oil all over and used at least 6 gallons fuel to get to dealer. End result, Truck stinks every time I drive it now, don't know if washed out oil did any damage so now persuing other avenues concerning this truck.
Just My opinion but please take it in immediatly at your low millage especially.

Hmm, I reread the post and what I get is the oil is an inch high on the dipstick and it does'nt smell like diesel, so I figure if I'm wrong then what he meant to say was that the oil level was an inch over the full mark on the stick which would mean that it is appx. 6 or so inches from the bottom of the stick. I would also take into account his oil pressure gauge was sitting on zero, not an indicator of an overfull crankcase from a leaking injector.
Cummins600 maybe you should have actually read it.

the gauge read 0 psi because the oil pump wont pump oil when it is full of diesel fuel.
it thins it out so much that it wont pump any PSI
call the dealer tell them to come get it!!

You could fill your crankase with water and get more than enough pressure to activate the oil press. switch. Granted fuel dilluted oil will wipe out an engine, even so it will still produce near normal oil pressure levels.

most injector threads I have read describe the same symptom's.
1.overfull on the dipstick
2. 0 oil PSI
3.and if you keep driving, diesel and oil spewing out the crank vent
4. and if you still drive maybe a blown motor
I see what you saying about the way he worded his problem.
is the oil 1 inch over the full mark
or is it reading on only the first inch of the stick
