lamp out

This light keeps going on and now stays on. I have checked all my codes and none say anything about lamps/lights. It started about 2000 miles back and was driving me nuts with the chime going off when ever it flashed. Have checked all my lights and all are working. Did seem like when I hit a bump it would go on meaning something loose but now just stays on AT LEAST THE CHIME ISN'T GOING Where is that DDD____ chime anyway I tore the dash apart and couldn't find it.

Believe it or not but it as simple as you have a bad bulb. It may be that the filament is just starting to break but still making contact (explaining the bump issue) or it could be that the lead contacts on the end have become mushroomed and are making higher resistance...

Either way pull all your rear brake/tail light bulbs and check for any discolouring of the glass, also give each one a light flick and watch if the filament vibrates madly, also look at the contacts and if nothing is found just replace them all.

Thanks!! Was thinking about changing to LED rear lights anyway. I thought that may be what was needed but being an arizoldman you know the rest just lazy I guess - too busy just driving and enjoying the truck.
I guess I thought it was something else because the lights where NOT on.
Thanks

Lamp out light is on them off.

Light goes on and off! Mine did. I replaced the right rear brake bulb. Happened again. Check the bulb and found the contact wire on the base was shorting. Took my knife bent the wire out to make better contact. I have a spare bulb in the glove box, just in case this happens agian. javahjoeo

My light came on too a few weeks back. The lights would still work, but what I found out was that on my RR tail light........there are two filiments in the bulb. One was burned out and the other worked normally. Replaced the bulb and the "lamp out" light went out.

Thanks all think I will just replace all with the new LED's bulbs and check the contacts. Did take all bulbs out and they all look fine and seem to work ok.
Have a great week
