Kinda Worried

I contacted dealer today, and have a appointment tomorrow AM. They are going to do the recall work on the trans. line. I mentioned the TSB 18-004-04 (fast idle) and he knew nothing about it. I gave him the number and he looked it up and said oh yeow we can do that. Haven't done one, but we can do it. Boy that kinda has me worried. Should I go thru with it. He said with only 7,000 miles on truck it would not cost me anything. If it wasn't for this site, I would't even have known about the TSB. Thanks for a great site.

MoparDan - might get him to tweak your flux capacitor while he's in there. Tell him it's TSB 1D-10T

I'm in the same boat, Mopardan. I got this truck from a dealer that sells Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan... so they aren't real knowledgable or experienced with all the details of the Dodge/Cummins stuff. So far, they have been friendly and open so I'm thinking about trying to stick around when they do my flash. I've heard of others being able to do this so who knows!

I'll try to post back tomorrow how it goes. For some reason they don't have my confidence built up. I haven't had to take truck to the shop for any issues yet, but I hope they don't open a can of worms. Computer goes in shop tomorrow too, so it may be a couple of days before I can post back.

OK! Went to dealer where I purchased truck Tue. AM for fast idle enable. They hooked up on truck and started scratching thier heads. They finaly told me they had a software problem with DCs ECM. they would try to find problem and call me or I could take it to another dealer. Called another dealer, and they told me to bring it up as the TSB would be covered under warranty. They didn't care where I bought it. ( I have bought 4 Dodges from this dealer) Ten minutes after I arrived Wed AM, the fast idle was up and running. Works great! The service tech advised using this feature in neutral, with parking brake set to avoid causing stress on trans. He said in Park the trans fluid does no circulate thru cooler and over time could do damage to trans! Don't know, but thats what he said!

Ya Dodge autos dont pump fluid in park. It is a good idea to do that. It took me a while when I had my last Dodge Cummins with an auto, to figere out that to get an acurate reading when checking the trany fluid level it needed to be in neutral.

Makes you wonder why they won't do it on the stick shift? If ya gonna put it in neutral and set the parking brake, whats the difference?
