I was going to get a K&N intake and was wondering who might have one and if they like it? Does it whistle loud?!

 

Before I got the AFE, i had drop in k&n and my silencer ring removed... Whistles pretty loud!!!

 

Do yourself a favor, save money, filter the incoming air better and have less restriction. Buy a Cool Hose, and an Amsoil Namo drop in filter.
Sounds great and costs under $200.00 bucks for everything

I have it, no silencer ring and a turbo back exhaust...i like it a lot and sound like a bus

I am not bashing this product, this is just my personal experience.

Now if your talking about a drop in filter for the stock air box, please dis-regard this.

I have the K&N FIPK. Consists of a tube to the turbo, has a heat shield, and then a cone filter up in the front right of the engine bay to bring in cool air.

I had to take it off last week to check something, and I stuck my hand in the tube and rubbed the wall, my hand came out very very dirty. I mean nasty dirt.

The next day I ordered an Amsoil dry replacement that will fit in the same place as the K&N on the tube to the turbo. I do not reccommend any air filter that you have to doctor up with oil first, so they will filter.

This is just my opinion, search for a dry type (oil less) air filter...

 

do you have to replace aimsoil filter or can you clean it?

 

I had it on my 06 before I got this turbo set up and now its been replaced with an AFE. I really liked it though and never had any problems with it. The turbo whistled really loud. If the 06 will work on the 03 send me a PM

 

Amsoil PN EAA189 is for the 3rd Gen and has a 100,000 mile warranty and is cleanable. This is the drop in filter I will be ordering very soon. About $48 from amsoil. I have heard good things about these filters.

it is cleanable.. The one I got is a cone type that will replace the K&N but still use the K&N's tube..

 

what is the part number that replaces the K&N one
