They are not checking your software version, only checking for codes. One of the local guys just smogged his truck and ran his Smarty on 5, all good no issues.

No smog test here in TX for registration. I just got mine in the mail yesterday, $86 at the tax office or $89 paid online. Just have to show proof of insurance and pay your money.

I love Texas!! Got Farm Truck plates on the 98' and pay a high price of $36.00 a year. Farm plates have lots of options vs regular plates here.
