Check with your dealer, I believe they will work with the 05 auto's. My brake cost about $1200.00 and I did install myself. It works hand in hand with the computer, since tranny is computer controlled, it should work. But call your dealer and verify, at least my dealer said it would when I bought mine, because he said that their records showed I had an auto. And they just went out of business last month.

Alright thanks for the info. I'll be giving them a call

Thats what they quoted me as well. I ended up buying mine with the truck purchase but installed it myself as the dealer quoted 4.5 hours to install. As far as downhill use goes it will work well but with the auto you lose your braking at 20 mph when the TC comes out of lockup. Don't know about the break even thing but I do know I like the ability to hold the truck on grades without heating up the service brakes.

240 bucks is a pretty reasonable install price

In response to the initial post. Pac makes one for our '05 autos, when I bought my truck last Sept, they were the only ones available. I didn't buy one yet, so I can't comment on their performance.

If you go to jakebrake.com and download the install manual (actually all you have to do is view the front page) it states Jacob brake for Dodge Ram 2003 thru 2006

$1,500 even was what they quoted me the day after I bought the truck.

Supposedly that was 10% off because I bought it there, who knows.

You can get the brake, brand new in the box on Ebay for right around $1K, I often wondered if my dealer would install one I bought, if it was intact in the factory box?

I think I read where it is about a 4-5 hour install? Wonder if that is longer for the auto's?

Oh, I guess it would help if I read the posts..........

Herb,
Is the dealer able to warranty the item? Is it a 1 yr./ 12K mile, or does it carry with the 3 yr./36K?

“Comes with a 3-year/100,000-mile (160,935 km) warranty on the exhaust brake assembly and a 3-year/36,000-mile (57,937 km) warranty on all other kit components.”

I have a DC extended warranty so I called to verify that it is also covered to the limits of the contract, as long as it is installed by a DC dealer.

Does anyone know the actual "book" time for the install on a 6 spd.?

I'm trying to break down what the dealer is quoting for labor.
