Intermittent loss of power.

Hey there guys, i have a problem here. I've got a 05 Ram 2500 CTD with a Banks Six Gun tuner, AFE dry replacement filter, and Banks full exhaust. Every now and again my truck seems to be straining and it's even hard to get up to 40. The boost seems to stick at around 10 PSI, and when I hammer on it no smoke comes out like it usually does. RPM's climb as normal. engine temp, oil pressure, and trans temp are all well. There aren't any noises out of the ordinary, i can hear the turbo spooling and the engine has it's usual hum. Seems like the first half of the throttle it's straining, and then when i mash it down past it, the turbo kicks in and it's back to it's full force. The length of this varies, it can be in the middle of my drive and start working normally, and sometimes it will last until i park it and then next time i drive it it's fine, and may be 2 or 3 days before it happens again. I usually keep the tuner set at max. I'm new to diesels, and just got this truck a few months ago. It had all of the upgrades on it when i bought it. I'm completely stumped as to what it might be, and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have gauges? Fuel pressure, rail pressure? Have you checked the fuel filter and air filter?

You might want to learn your truck a little better before you go driving it around wide open. Too much fuel (which I doubt the bank$ could produce) can melt our motors down... you will be looking at a lot of money if you melt a piston in this motor.

Welcome to the DTR.

Thanks! And no sir, i havent fuel or rail pressure gauges. I've a gauge cluster on the pillar that shows tranny temp, boost pressure, and exhaust temp. Although the exhaust temp doesnt seem to be working correctly. I didn't think the banks would put out enough juice to hurt anything, which is why i've been running it on the highest setting. I'd planned to get a built tranny and a few other things before getting a smarty with some real power.. I've checked air filter, but not fuel filter. I've been planning on getting the oil and filter, and fuel filter replaced along with a tranny fluid flush. But just haven't gotten around to getting it into a shop.

I'd do the fuel fuel filter now, and see if that helps.

You want to get a fuel pressure gauge... if you run the CP3 with no positive pressure, it will over heat and you'll be out some $$$$...

You can hurt stuff with the banks, more so if the EGT gauge isn't working. What is it doing? Is the probe hooked up? Check the connections, a bad connection will ruin the readings...

It's acting like it's hooked up to the boost. Sits at the first notch until i give it gas and then rises as i open the throttle. Then as soon as i let off it drops back down to the first notch. I've checked everything and all the connections check out. And I'll try to get it scheduled in for sometime next week. See if a new fuel filter doesn't cure it.

Sorry for the double post, but NOW my truck finally talks to me. On my drive to work today the check engine light came on. When i got off i drove on down to the autozone and they ran it on their little scanner. Said it was a map sensor. Got 'er scheduled in for wednesday or thursday to check the map sensor, and replace if faulty, replace both transmission filters, fuel filter, and oil! Hopefully that should clear up my problem!
