hello,

had an injector replaced at 30k miles now at 38k the truck is in the shop and seems the dealer is thinking injector again. just took it in so have not figured it out yet.

if this is indeed an injector problem it would lead me to believe that these stock injector are suspect. i had the blue/white smoke in the morning and rough idle. no rise on the oil dip stick.

doing a search on this board it seems that there are a number of injector issues. so my question is two fold:

1. are stock injectors not the best quality?

2. what is a better injector to use after truck out of warranty? i am not interested in bombing.

Kinda off topic, but someone posted the other day that DC has changed their procedure on injectors. Now, they may change them all instead of just one. Might be worth it to ask.

 

stock injectors are not bad it is the fuel filter the factory fuel filter is rated for 10 and 7 micron don m said most of the problems are from 5 micron and smaller formula on eis the only way to go in my book If you want to keep stock injectors get a 2 micron fuel filter kit fast

Bosch specifies 5 micron filtration for these injectors. The Baldwin PF7977 is a 5 micron filter that fits our trucks. Obviously the GDP MK-2 2 micron filter setup is the best protection. I'm getting one for my truck.

 

Will these finer filters still provide the flow the engine needs? Does the finer filter need to be changed more frequently?
