Injector type of knock??

I know there is a lot of good info about injectors and knocking out there, but when I metered my injectors had a couple with the meter start at 1.2 and then drop down to .7. Some have said that more than 0.5 is bad , I guess I will need to change all 6 out the lowest was 0.5, but when the motor is running there is no black smoke or white smoke just a noticeable plop, plop and a heavy tappet knock. Have checked the valves and they are good, change the FCA also, but the main question is where is a good place to buy replacement injectors?? I have a Edge juice on the truck eversince the truck was 3 months old (2003 3500 2wd) other than that the truck is stock with 97500 miles.

Any words of wisdom!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

it is hard to get good readings around the 0.5 ohm area. the ones over 1 ohm is bad. your truck needs better filtering. cummins said not to go larger than 5 micron, Chrysler went 10. the new 4th gen have 2 micron. the dirty fuel causes high wear. the crystals get cracked by the dirt binding the parts causing undue stress on it. just stay with new injectors. many good supplier's out there, parleys, ddp, f1 and others. your 03 transfer pump should have failed under warranty and the dealer should have installed the replacement one in the tank. here is a pix of the $100 filter setup you need to add, need more info pm me with your email address. if you replace them yourself here is some hints. there is a lifting lug behind the #6 cylinder, I think it has two 12mm bolts holding it on. remove it, take it to the back yard and see how far you can throw it. let the tailgate down and place the parts across the tailgate in the order you remove them. you only have to remove the exhaust bridges. I find it easier to remove the rail rather than work around it but if you leave it on you will need to modify a socket. see pix, also I make a plate to cover the intake to make sure nothing gets dropped in. be very careful on torque on the injector wires, over torqueing will cause the same stress and cause early failure. I think it is 10 inch pounds. consider dumping the edge for smarty jr

Just an update, Tim and Hugh just changed out my stock (99k) injectors with a set of F1's, my knock went away 99.9% and my mileage went back up. Great power even w/out my edge juice!!!

Just a side note, TRE Diesel of Norfolk,VA, AWSOME!!!!! Tim and Hugh made the change out look like it was nothing and after seeing his shop he loves what he is doing!

Would recommend to anyone to seek and/or have work done by his shop!!!

Heard nothing but good things about TRE Diesel!!!! I was in a severe pinch and called Tim about sending my injectors off to F1 but didn't hear back as soon as I had hoped....only a couple of hours.....so I went with another of F1's vendors. Either way.....my F1's are awesome. Kuddos to Don....he knows his common rail injectors!!!

Glad you got your issues worked out.
