injector pump $3000

my truck went back to the dealer for repair again on the front u joints ,after they put them in along with 1 front hub i have a humming sound in 4wd. so as I was talking to the service manager he was telling me about the upgrade the dodge is doing for the lift pump problems. I think he said that if it goes while under warranty for $375 they will put new type of pump in fuel tank and make all wireing for this upgrade suppose to be better .the pump is suppose to push not pull ,and will also be keeped cooler in the tank.also I was told that if the bosch injector pump went after 100,000 mile warranty that the pump cost about $3000 not installed. so I guess you know what I all most did in my pants. is there a way around this problem with another injector pump or fuel system ,or do you get rid of the truck at 100,000 miles .I guess the lift pump and injector pump would be over $ 4000,something wrong with this picture or is this what these things really cost thanks kully

Well, you could buy a modified ATS CP3 + 120psi pusher pump combo for about $2700. Or in a few weeks you can get an Industrial Injection modified CP3 for much less than that (exchange, I believe).

The dealer is lying to you. The pumps aren't that expensive. Around $1600 or so if you can find one stock. Talk to your local Cummins dealer.

Tell him to take a hike. The in tank pumps are the standard warranty replacement. If the filter mounted pump fails they automatically install the intank version. For free, it's the only one that's available from Dodge. You hear dealer horror stories all the time but this just sounds like outright theft!

The OEM ones the Bosh ones. The ones mentioned above are aftermarket ones available from retailers other than your Dodge dealer.
