Exclamation Injector problems

Had to get our truck towed to the shop. 04.5 RAM 2500 4x4 6spd w/ 25,000miles. Problems were as follows: Within three days it went from bad to not running.* Began starting hard and now will not start at all. * Light knock at idle. * At high RPMs (2500), act like it has a rev limiter. * At high RPMs (2500), let off throttle and there is a brief pause before the engine RPM goes down * The higher the RPM, the louder the knock. * Smokes *Fuel mileage went up to 22.5 mpg *Went to shift at about 2500 RPMs, let off the throttle and it jumped up to 3500 RPMs... Dealership replaced #1 Injector and said all fixed. However, when we went to pick it up still really hard starting but issues were fixed. Also when we took it in the injector pump was leaking and there was residue around the head gasket... dealership told us this was NORMAL and wouldn't replace. We knew that it wasn't normal but what are you going to do, figured we would get it replaced at another shop another day. Needed the truck and it had already been there for 6 days (inc wknd). Still getting good fuel mileage... empty 24mpg.

Today, truck died on the way to town. Got it started again after a few minutes to be able to get it off of the road and then it died again. Smoking and missing really bad again. Towed to another shop to be repaired yet again. This shop says that leak on injector pump isn't normal so hopefully that will get replaced this time.

Anyone else been having problems like this with their rigs? 4th time in the shop... seems ridiculous on a new vehicle. All we have ever had is Dodge's but holy smokes! When a shop is an hour+ away, makes for a lot of wasted time!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. There have been several threads on here about the stock lift pumps starving the CP3 injection pumps of fuel. This is aggravated by being in a colder climate in cold temps.

Probably the long term solution would be to get a fuel pressure gauge and an aftermarket pusher pump to keep your CP3 supplied with plenty of fuel then you won't shouldn't have any further problems with it.
