Question injector failure??????

I have about 7000 miles on my truck now (1 month old)!! I have noticed more and more that when my truck idles it seems to miss/knock on one cylinder. You can physically see the engine and truck jerk when the one hits that misses. I can also feel it driving down the road sometimes you can feel a pulsation when cruising. I asked the dealer and they said to bring it in but I need to find a time to do so. I use my truck all day every day for business and can't afford to take a day off just to have it looked at. what do you guys think? Is this common? And what kind of time frame should I expect it to take to get fixed? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeh mine did it to I guess somewhat common problem with injectors might be only that injector is carbon up and needs cleaning. you might try diesel injector cleaner as for me I one time blew my egt's alarm off and ever since motor idled better so I must have burn off dirty tips as they are super small holes in them. It won't hurt engine to run like that I did not have time to get to dealer too.

They don't want to see my truck now with all the goodies on it

Mine went in today and of course they couldn't find anything wrong. They did a few tests on it and could not duplicate my problem. I will return in a few days when I have my trailer behind it. That is when it does it most. although all I do is pull my trailer. Very few miles are put on without my 45' gooseneck behind it. Most days it doesn't even get unhooked. better luck next time!!?

I squirt some Power Service Diesel Kleen in my tank at every fill up. Idles much better and the Diesel Kleen has some lubrication properties to help keep the pump pumpin'. My CTD has a rough idle if I don't add it. Bought a gallon, should treat 300 gallons, paid under 12.00 for a bottle. Have it in the back of the truck and at fill up, I just pour some in. I don't worry about concentration, works thin or thick.

I have also tried Stanadyne Performance Formula with equal results, just got the Diesel Kleen because I was on the road.

Give it a try.

Thanks, I use power service every once in a while. I keep a gallon and just fill up a little 8 oz juice bottle and keep it in the truck for the next fill up when i decide to put it in.
I seem to get worse mileage when i use it, i dunno...
but i was thinking of strictly injector cleaners like the lucas or other brands??

Try the Diesel Kleen. It is an injector cleaner. It comes in a silver bottle, the other stuff comes in a white bottle, I believe.

Good idea about breaking it down into smaller doses. I'll try that.

Horsehauler, when I use Power Service (Diesel Kleen) or Stanadyne my mileage stays the same or slightly reduced. When I use Lucas, I get some improvement. I am sticking with Lucas now. I also tried the acetone and saw a decrease although I may have gotten some bad fuel. I bought the 6oz? one shot treatment bottle and the larger quart bottle. I keep the little one in the truck all the time, dump it in when I fill up and then refill from the big bottle. Works great and very convenient.

Increasing lubricity will help more than anything.

I use Fleetguard Fleet-Tech Asphaltene Conditioner (part #CC2598). I get it from my local Cummins shop and it is recommended by Cummins. It treats 250 gallons, so one bottle will last you a little while. If you have a local Cummins dealer, ask about the Dodge RV club. It is free to join and will get you discounts on filters, additives and I think some parts.

I too use the Diesel Kleen, the big jug at wally world is 3 quarts not a gallon.
There is no doubt a difference when I don't use it.

My old truck ('02 Dodge 2500) did that as well. Mostly with trailer, occasionally without. Turned out it was the fuel pump on the way out. Had an aftermarked chip on it so the warranty was void... : (
