Injector ?
Injector ?
Today after work I fired up my truck my motor was knocking pretty loud. It seemed like a cylinder or two was missing. It went away when I reved it up a little ,and after it warmed up it went away. I went home put a new feul filter in it and filled up with some feul treatment now she sounds great.
My question is how can you check for a bad injector with out a scan tool. I took the cylinder temps and they were all with in 10 degrees. What else can I check?

How cold was it ? Mine ran really ruff on a couple cold starts, but cleared up after a minute. I say keep an eye on your oil level and look for white smoke on startup after sitting for a little while.
There have been a couple times I got paranoid after reading posts here. Just because one or two posters have a problem, it doesn't mean you will.

If all you want to do is check for codes in it try this:
have the truck shut off and the key in the off position, turn the key to the on position and back to off 3 times quickly but on the third time you do this leave the key in the on position and watch your odometer, any codes in the ecm will show up, if there arent any codes in it it will flash ----- a few times then display the word "Done" If there are any codes in it they will appear even if they dont cause the check engine light to come on
it may take a few times to get it just right, ive done it on my 99 and my 06 when it dropped a pushrod to get the misfire code out of it
Good luck

I had about a 1/4 tank left. Honestly I haven't ran my truck this year a whole lot only about 7800 miles. So the last time I changed the fuel filter was about 9 months ago. I changed the filter and added some fuel treatment and now the truck runs great.
