how can i tell what tranny a truck has by the VIN #??? i wanna see if a 03' dodge iam lookin at has the 47re or 48re tranny in it??? and i dont know the build date on it....

 

If you are at a DC dealer simply have them run the VIN and get the option printout. You can also look under the hood and read the data plate on the engine. If it reads 305hp, its the 48. If it reads 265 (or somewhere in that neighborhood), it's the 47.

 

well i know its a H.O motor and not a S.O., aint all the H.O. 305hp with the 48re??
