I need a new Transfer Case

I need a new t case, and found quite a few on ebay out of wrecked trucks. My question is, does anyone know if they changed the t case at all between 2003 and 2007? I beleive it is the NV271D, but not sure, and some state that it is out of an 04 but dont show it fitting an 03? Thanks.

Still dont know for sure what is wrong with it. Something is binding in there when 4x4 is engaged, see post "Front Axle Noise"

I might just rebuild it, but I was thinking about just getting a new one, and replacing that one. Just looking for my best price of purchasing a new one versus rebuilding the bad one. Thanks.

check for the round new process tag, usually on the back side of the case, it should tell you the model of your case ie nv242D nv271D, all the new process cases are fairly easy to rebuild and new bearings and seals are about 120.00 double that if you need a chain

Thanks, I will check it out after work. Are they difficult to rebuild? I have never seen inside one, but have somewhat of an idea how they work.

Not sure what new costs but I had mine rebuilt for my 97 it only cost me 400 bucks and works like a charm it may be worth a try to rebuild it at least that way you would know what you have.

Yeah, I think I might look into having it rebuilt, or maybe doing it myself. IT is a NV271 D. I have a buddy who says he knows how, he has rebuilt hundreds of T Cases out of a LAV for the Marine Corps. Thanks for ya'lls help.
